Astronomy : is one of the only fields of study at Hogwarts which has a direct equivalent in the Muggle world. Known student activities include learning the names of stars, constellations and planets, as well as their location and movements, and describing the environments of planets and moons.

Herbology :was the study of magical and mundane plants and fungi, making it the wizarding equivalent to botany. Herbology was a core class and subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Defense Against the Dark Arts (sometimes written as D.A.D.A.) is a mandatory subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in which students learn how to magically defend themselves against Dark Creatures and the Dark Arts.

Potions : in this class, students learn the correct way to brew potions, following specific recipes and using various magical ingredients to create their potions, starting with simple ones first and moving to more advanced ones as they progress in knowledge.

Muggle Studies : is part of the non-magical studies curriculum at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is exactly what the name implies - the study of the daily lives of Muggles and how they cope with electricity and not magic.

Runes are a form of writing used by witches and wizards hundreds and even thousands of years ago. Some important magical documents are written in runes, and some magical items have runes inscribed on them.

Arithmancy is a branch of magic involving the study of the magical properties of numbers. At Hogwarts, Arithmancy is an elective course, taught, we believe, by Professor Vector. It is offered to students in third to fifth years; those with sufficiently high O.W.L.
